Good News Bad News

Last Thursday we drove to Los Angeles to visit my family. On the way there, we stopped by Harris Ranch for lunch, which is about half way to LA. Once we got back into the car, Jacob said to Joey "Joey, I have good news and bad news".

Joey: What is the good news?

Jacob: The good news is we are going to cousin's house.

Joey: What is the bad news?

Jacob: The bad news is it's going to take four more hours.

Joe and I were sitting in the front seat laughing our heads off.

Direction

Last week, I was on my way to pickup Jacob from school, with Joey in the back seat. It was already dark and I guess I wasn't paying attention.

Joey: Mommy, why did you go so far down the street?

Mom: Oh, oops, I past the street that we need to turn.

Joey: Mommy, you went to far.

Mom: Okay, thanks Joey.

The next day, we were picking up Jacob again. As we were driving down the same street.

Joey: Mommy, I'll tell you where to turn so you won't go too far.

Mom: Thanks :)

On the third day, we were driving there again.

Mom: Joey, aren't you going to tell mom where to turn?

Joey: Mom, I am tired of telling you already.

I am glad that they inherited Joe's sense of direction and not mine.

Joey: Mom, mom, I killed a bug in the play room.

Mom: Really?

Joey: Yes, and I took a paper towel and clean it up. I did it all by myself without an adult.

Mom: That's very good Joey.

Jacob: What kind of bug was it Joey? Was it a spider?

Joey: No.

Jacob: Was it black?

Joey: Yes, it was black.

Jacob: Spiders are black. Tarantulas are black. Was it a Tarantula?

Joey: Yes, it was a Tarantula.

Mom: :)

Trick or Treat

Last night Joe took the kids out to trick or treat while I stayed home to pass out candy. After about an hour, the kids came back.

Joe asked them if they wanted to go out again, and they both said no.

Mom: Jacob, did you have fun?

Jacob: No.

Mom: Really? I thought you like candy.

Jacob: I like the candy, but it's too much work.

Wow, he is truly my son, we even think alike.

Adulthood

I was driving Jacob and Joey home from school yesterday and here's the conversation we had:

Joey: Mom, when I am an adult, will you give me some money?

Jacob: Joey, when you are an adult, you will make your own money?

Joey: What do you mean?

Jacob: You go to work and they give you money.

Joey: What do you mean Jacob?

Jacob: You go to work and do something, and they give you money.

Jacob: Mom, what do you do at work?

Mom: I go to a lot of meetings and tell other people what to do. I used to write computer programs and tell the computer what to do...

At this point, they've lost interest.

Bottomless Pit

We went out to Italian for dinner tonight. Jacob had the children's spaghetti, which he manage to clean the plate before our meal arrived. Two pieces of bread, a shrimp and some pasta off of my plate. When we got home, he wanted some snacks. So he went and found some cookies. Then he asked for yogurt and some fruit. Then he had some sushi. Okay, you think he was full after all this food. Nope, he went and got some pastries. Is he done yet? Nope. As I am typing this, both kids are hanging over a bowl of corn chips, chomping away.

I realize that this happens to boys, but just didn't think it start when they are six years old.

Pizza

A few weeks ago, Jacob came home from school with his lunch untouched.

Jacob: Mom, I didn't eat the lunch you packed today. I tried the cheese pizza in school instead.

Mom: Wow, did you like it?

Jacob: Yeah.

This is the first time that Jacob had real pizza. I was so happy, I didn't even get upset that he didn't eat the lunch that I packed.

Last night we went to a party that served only pizza. I was about to get Jacob some cheese pizza and then he saw the ham and pineapple pizza and wanted that instead. Three slices later, he told me he was finally full.

I guess he really likes pizza, this is going to make my life so much easier. One less food to pack when we go to parties when they only serve pizza. Now I am just waiting for Joey to get over his allergies.
