Olympians

We finally watched a little of the Olympics on Sunday. When we first turned on the TV, it was showing equestrian. Jacob and Joey watched for a few minutes and disappeared.

Jacob: Mommy, mommy, come here and watch our horse race!

I walked into the play room. Jacob had laid down the basketball hoop on the floor. He and Joey each had a hobby horse.

Jacob: Mommy, watch our race. Joey, get ready, get set, go.

And off they went, jumping over the obstacle course.

Later during the day, they were showing rowing on TV.

I found Jacob and Joey in the playroom, each sitting in a clear plastic bin, with a golf club in their hands.

Jacob: Mommy, we are in a boat race.

I guess we really have to be careful on what we show the kids on TV.

Argument

Jacob and Joey were constantly arguing in Hawaii. Sometimes the arguments were pretty funny.

We were getting in our car going somewhere. Joey wants to put on his own car seat belts. He was having a hard time and Jacob wanted to help him. Of course, Joey wouldn't let him. Once Joey finally managed to put on his seat belt, Jacob made a comment, if I were you Joey, I could do this easily. Joey got really upset and screamed back, "You are not ME!"

Pretty good logic for a two year old.

Diaper Change

Joey still wears diaper at night. Tonight, he wanted to use the bathroom after we already changed him into his diaper.

Joe was trying to put Joey's diaper on while Joey was standing up.

Joe: Joey, stand still while I put on your diaper.

Joey cooperates. After Joe get the diaper on, Joey pulls the Velcro off.

Joe: Joey, that was very naughty, now put your hands on your head.

Joey cooperates. After Joe get the diaper on, Joey pulls the Velcro off.

Joe: Joey, that was very naughty, now put your hands on your head.

Joey laughs, but cooperates. Guess what he did after Joe gets his diaper on?

Joe: Joey, now you are making dad angry.

Joey laughs.

Yup, the terrible twos.

Hula Dancers

We've showing Jacob and Joey some videos of hula dances on youtube, preparing them for their first hula in Hawaii.

This is Joey and Jacob, performing the Tahitian dance.

Dinner Time

I told Jacob that one of his school friend will be over at our house around 5 p.m. for a visit.

Jacob: How many hours is that from now?

Mom: It's about five more hours, right before dinner time.

Jacob: Okay, can nanny make dinner now?

Just Like Jacob

So the background of this story is that Joey can't go swimming in the pool because it makes him itchy. So we've been going to the pool to watch Jacob swim, but Joey can't go in. Joey will pretend that he is swimming in the bath tub, even trying to jump in to the tub, just like Jacob.

So Joe and I decided to go to Hawaii for our family vacation this year, mainly so Joey can swim in the ocean. We also told Joey that he will be able to swim when we go to Hawaii.

Last night, we went to Diver Dan's to get some scuba gear for us and the kids. Joe wanted the kids to have wet suits (shortys) in case the water is still too cold. At Diver Dan's, they didn't have Joey's size, only had them for Jacob.

While Jacob was trying on the shorty, Joey told me, mommy, I want to take off my clothes too. I want to try on the swimming suit. I replied, "Joey, they don't have your size here, we have to go to another store to look for a swimming suit for you." Joey said "OK".

As we were in our car going home, Joey started crying in the back seat. "Mommy, I don't want to go home, I want to go to the baby store!"

Mom: What baby store?

Joey: The baby store with swimming suit.

Mom: Oh Joey, it's too late now, the store is closed. We can go there tomorrow.

Joey cries even harder: I want to buy my swimming suit.

Once we got home, we let Joey put on his rash guard, and he was happy again. But all of a sudden, he started crying again.

Mom: What's wrong Joey?

Joey: I want to go to Hawaii now. I want to go swimming.
