Nice Try Jacob

So Jacob's new teacher awards the kids by putting stars on the whiteboard next to the child's name. When they earn ten stars, they get a small prize. Jacob asked us to implement this at home with his homework assignments. If he finishes his homework within the allocated time, he would receive one star.

Joe and I thought, hey, not a bad idea. At first, he was just getting the stars, we didn't really have a prize for him. Then when we went to the store, he came up with this idea of after earning ten stars, he should get a toy. Okay, I'll go with that. So Jacob picked up a package with five Thomas Trains. I told him he can have one train after earning ten stars. He would need 50 stars to receive all five trains.

So here's the funny part. Next morning, Jacob was happy as can be. He told me Joey has been such a good boy, he gave Joey ten stars on the board. I said, wow Jacob, that's so nice of you. Then Jacob replies, I think we should give him one of the train from the set since Joey has ten stars.

Nice try.

I have to say, Jacob is smart little boy! Just for coming up with such a clever scheme, you should reward his creativeness with a toy train. Joey too.
