Wushu

Jacob's school offers some after school enrichment program. We signed him up for Wushu and Chinese songs. I told Jacob the day before his Wushu class that we signed him up for a Kong fu class. He got really upset with me and started crying.

Jacob: Mom, I didn't want you to do that, I don't want to take the class. This is the second time you signed me up for something without telling me.

(we signed him up for soccer a few weeks ago, and he got upset too)

So Friday after school, Jacob got home and was so excited.

Jacob: Mom, mom, guess what? We did wushu today, we had to kick all the way up to our heads and we learned to punch. It was so much fun.

Mom: I thought you didn't want to take the class?

Jacob: I didn't know that's what you do, I really like it.

Mom: Are you sure? Do you want to go next week? We can always cancel.

Jacob: I really like it, I want to go.

Mom: Okay, by the way, I signed you up for Chinese song too!

Parent Teacher Conference

Jacob started Kindergarden on August 21, so a little over three weeks. On Tuesday, Joe gets a call from Ms. Lin, Jacob's teacher to discuss Jacob's behavior. Ms. Lin told Joe that Jacob is not paying attention is school and he is testing her limits. She requested that we have a meeting.

Okay, this was not a big surprise for us. We've had the same meetings and same conversations with his pre-school teachers. What was surprising is that it's only been three weeks. I am expecting many more of the same conversation with Jacob's teachers.

Soccer Mom

It's official, I've become a soccer mom. Jacob has his first real soccer game yesterday. It was 100 degrees outside and bunch of parents were out under the hot baking sun cheering for their little ones playing soccer. Some kids are so little, they got confused on which side of the net to aim for after half time.

But it was pretty cute, seeing these little guys out there, trying as hard as they can. I never realize I could be that into soccer, but I cheered as hard as I could when Jacob made his first goal. I was so proud of him. I can totally understand now how parents can get so involved with this stuff. Anyways, Jacob had fun and he loved beating the other team.

Joey came into my bedroom last night around 2:00 a.m., telling me that he has a tummy ache. I picked him up and realized that he was running a fever. So I gave him some Motrin, and after a while, I can tell the fever was going down. I asked him if he was feeling better, and he said his tummy doesn't hurt anymore.

Next morning, he woke up with another fever, and this time, he was really upset and refused to take his medicine.

Mom: Joey, the medicine will make you feel better.

Joey: NO! I don't want to take the medicine.

Mom: Do you remember last night when you had a tummy ache, I gave you the medicine and your tummy stopping hurting?

Joey: But my tummy is not hurting now!

Hmm, he is too logical for me.
